Seeking Approval.

Quote.

When your mind and heart are truly open abundance will flow to you effortlessly and easily.

Question:

I find myself seeking approval from my peers, family members, teachers and everyone I come in contact with….what is the root cause of this need? It is putting a strain on my relationships.

Response:

Seeking the approval of others is really based on seeking the approval of yourself. When you are self-critical and lack self-esteem you look externally to fill that void. But it puts a strain on relationships because whenm others do give you approval, you don’t really trust it and your friends and family can tell. And if they are giving you any type of feedback that you may interpret as less than full approval, your own self-criticism will exaggerate it into disapproval.

The solution is to develop your self-esteem, so you can provide your own sense of approval, validation and respect. Then you won’t be looking to others to get what only you can provide. Core self-esteem is based on an experience of your essential nature. Meditation is a good place to start.

Love,

Deepak

THANKS FOR THE VERY INSIGHTFUL ANSWER. I`VE BEEN EXPLORING KUNDALINI YOGA TO HELP ME IN THIS SAME AREA OF APPROVAL SEEKING FROM OTHERS. I`VE PONDERED THIS SAME QUESTION MYSELF MANY TIMES & FOUND THE ANSWERED TO BE ROOTED IN A SEVERE CASE OF LOW-SELF ESTEEM. TIP: PRACTICING KUNDULINI YOGA, SPECIFICALLY THIRD CHAKRA ASANA HELPS TO CULTIVATE: PERSONAL POWER, WILL & SELF ESTEEM. SPECIFICALLY: CORE STABILIZATION, SURYA NAMASKARA (SUN SALUTATIONS) & TWISTS. REMEMBER, THE SECRETS OF YOGA CAN ONLY BE REVEALED THROUGH SUSTAINED PRACTICE. BEST WISHES TO YOU ON YOUR JOURNEY TO FREEDOM
