How to Please God.
When your mind and heart are truly open abundance will flow to you effortlessly and easily.
Question:
I have a question from your book on Jesus where you say ‘Such a teaching is unworkable except for the most pious of recluses. Is it possible to, via one’s Daily Intention in the Heart, to please God or to be considered loving with all of one’s heart etc.?
I was told at age 27, by a Roman Catholic priest who had taught me my Instructions in the religion while 7 months pregnant with my 4th child, when I voiced my great concern that with 4 tiny children I would not be able to learn the prayers, spend time with God etc. as I desired.
As the eldest of 6 himself, he responded light-heartedly with “If you do your Morning-Intention each morning, every time you rinse a diaper in the toilet, change a diaper, cook a meal etc., etc. IT WILL GO UP TO GOD LIKE the smoke of incense even when you do not have time to pray as you would like.”
I would be so happy to hear your insights on this subject I am now praying for clarity on.

The paragraph your question refers to is this:
Because he is so absolute, Jesus doesn’t offer a path of devotion
that consists of daily prayer and piety to God. He wants total,
unswerving devotion: You shall love the Lord your God with all
your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. In other
words, every thought must be of God and every action directed
toward him. Such a teaching is unworkable except for the most
pious of recluses. The same holds true for the complete selflessness
required on the path of service and the total fixation on spirituality
required on the path of contemplation. But denying the world is a
path to extinction, which no one can advocate. Nor can we assume
that Jesus wanted us to annihilate our egos and personalities in the
name of God. It’s more reasonable to assume that reaching Heaven
requires an unfolding process.
What I wanted to convey here is that living the commandment to love God is not an all-or-nothing proposition. We embark on that journey from where we are in the world with our relationships and obligations and we use those connections to others as the immediate means through which we can love God.
So your priest was right in suggesting that every act of love for your children is an act of love to God, and that is how we move toward that union with God while living in the world.
