How can we overcome our victim mentality?.

Quote.

When your mind and heart are truly open abundance will flow to you effortlessly and easily.

Question:

“I have a victim mentality and nothing helps me.

I’ve tried yoga, meditation, and psychotherapy, and have read tons of books.

But I love to be miserable and not do anything with my life…only wanting to die and be angry at God.

Yes, during this year of my life, I’ve made some progress.

And now I’m very conscious about my emotions, mechanisms of my ego, about my part in everything but it doesn’t help me.

It made my life worse.

Several years ago I could escape and be happy whatever it means…

Now I can’t even do that.

What should I do?

I would like to live and not think about death every day.

I’m such a sad person.”

Response:

Feeling like a victim is what the ego believes when it realizes it is not in control of your life.

The ego then feels powerless and manipulated.

Because we are conditioned to base our sense of self on our ego, instead of our true self, we feel miserable.

Your comment that you love to be miserable shows that you are aware that the only consolation and control the ego has in the face of its lack of power is to indulge in negativity and pessimism.

That understanding is not something that has made your life worse.

This self-recognition is actually a good starting point if you see that you are not your ego.

You are limitless, ever-present consciousness.

You are not your feelings of despair, sadness, and misery.

Your true self is complete, open, and at one with the infinite power of the universe.

If you return to your spiritual practices based on this distinction between your separate powerless false self and your true, limitless self, you will find your way forward.

Love,

Deepak
