Disconnected with Society’s Values.

Quote.

When your mind and heart are truly open abundance will flow to you effortlessly and easily.

Question:

Dear Deepak,

I feel deeply lost, as though there is no place for me in this world. ‎I feel as though the only thing that matters is living a spiritually devoted life. Sometimes my ego steps in and craves the worldly ‘stuff’ but mostly it all feels empty and meaningless. ‎ And it feels like life is just passing me by. ‎ In recent years I’ve gotten a divorce, given or sold most of my belongings, quit my career. None of it felt purposeful. How do I live in the world, with purpose, knowing and feeling that so much of what humanity strives for is meaningless? How does one live a spiritual life in a material world? One where money and ego are almost necessary to survival?

Response:

If what is important to you is living a spiritually devoted life, then focus on that and don’t concern yourself about what others who are pursuing a different path are doing. Everyone can do what they want to do and to be with the people who share their values. As long as others are not harming you, there is no reason that you can’t thrive in this life while you pursue your spiritual fulfillment.

Love,

Deepak

Switchfoot wrote a song titled "Beautiful Letdown." That's what the writer calls this feeling. It's a beautiful letdown when we realize we've been living for the wrong things. Please google the song. Sometimes just knowing others are experiencing this too makes all the difference: be gentle with yourself. It's crazy, important and sometimes messy business. But beautiful nonetheless :)
