Blessed Souls.
When your mind and heart are truly open abundance will flow to you effortlessly and easily.
Question:
The classical Indian sages wrote that there are three factors which indicate whether a soul has been blessed with the highest and most auspicious luck in the universe: 1. To have been born a human being, capable of conscious inquiry. 2. To have been born with – or to have developed – a yearning to understand the nature of the universe. 3. To have found a living spiritual master. My question is how can we know when we find a spiritual master? What determines a master, and where exactly on the spiritual journey is someone when they are considered a master, or is that an enlightened person?
Response:
You are certainly blessed if you find an enlightened teacher who can lead you step-by-step to full awakening, but that is an overly idealized vision of spiritual guidance that is so rare, it is impractical. Such a fairy tale image of a perfect teacher may even prevent you from finding knowledge and insight around you when you need it. The fact is enlightenment is self-realization. Teachers are there to support that process and make the journey smoother by providing instruction and clarification.
But if you have a burning desire to learn and grow, spiritual guidance will come to you even if it isn’t in the form of an enlightened master. Sometimes the perfect piece of wisdom can come through the casual remark of a child, an article you read in a magazine waiting for the dentist or communing with Nature on a quiet hike in the mountains. You know when you have found good spiritual guidance, because it there will be an “aha” experience where a previous state of doubt or confusion gives way to insight and peace.
