Arranged Marriage.

Question:
I have been living with my boyfriend for 2 months but I have been in love with him for 3 years. He liked me before but similar to me, he never dared admit to his feelings. His family believes in horoscope matching before a marriage alliance is made. His brother married based on love, and is now divorced and it turned out later that the match did not fit. They had our horoscopes matched and it seems we do not match and my boyfriend does not want to take any chances. Even though I respect my boyfriend and his family’s decision, I still believe in the power of love and that if a couple does not match on paper, love can still solve everything. They are basing their decision on the level of reality that they have, even if I do not agree with it, I cannot go against it. My love will never be fulfilled and I don’t know how to heal my crying heart. I love him deeply and I always felt a bond between us. How can something so beautiful end so abruptly?

It’s a shame that your boyfriend’s parents don’t see that their other son could just as easily gotten divorced if his marriage had been arranged with compatible horoscopes. Traditional Indian astrological charts at best can show where there are strengths and weaknesses in a potential marriage, but they can’t say how much the two love each other or measure the commitment between the couple to make the marriage work.
I don’t know if I would go so far as to say love can solve everything in a marriage, but love along with common sense and deep commitment are much better predictors of marital happiness and success than even the most compatible of horoscopes.
