Each year the Chopra Center offers a meditation and yoga retreat called Seduction of Spirit, where I guide hundreds of participants from around the world in timeless tools and techniques for spiritual awakening. I will confess that this is one of my favorite events because if we want greater peace, joy, and wellbeing in our lives and in the world, the first step is transforming our awareness – and one of the most powerful ways to do that is meditation.
In meditation, you experience a state of restful awareness in which your body is resting deeply while your mind is awake, though quiet. Scientific research on meditation is accelerating with the growing awareness of meditation’s numerous benefits, including a decrease in hypertension, heart disease, anxiety, depression, insomnia, and addictive behaviors. Recently, scientists have discovered that meditation not only helps people feel calm and balanced, it also literally changes the brain, strengthening the areas associated with memory, learning, self-awareness, compassion, and stress regulation.
The Seduction of Spirit retreat is an opportunity for an extended immersion into meditation, and its sister practice, yoga, that will take you to deeper levels of stillness, awareness, and inner connection. Throughout the week, you will find more clarity and joy as the windows of perception are cleansed and opened through the practice of meditation, yoga, and other tools for higher consciousness. Each day we will explore the Seven Spiritual Laws of Success and enjoy abundant time for discussions and questions. In leading Seduction of Spirit several times each year for more than a decade, I’ve realized that each retreat is unique and beautiful, shaped by the unfolding awareness of the individual participants sharing their spirit, energy, and wisdom with the collective consciousness of the group.
Inspire Your Life
The theme of our April Seduction of Spirit is “Inspire Your Life,” and I am particularly looking forward to the many wonderful guest speakers who will be joining us – including Eckhart Tolle, whose spiritual teachings and writings have inspired countless people throughout the world. I hope that you will be able to join us in California in April or later in the year at our Seduction of Spirit retreat in Whistler, B.C from June 30th to July 6th. In the meantime, take it easy. This is the underlying principle of meditation and of life. When you observe nature at work, you will notice that it follows the Law of Least Effort. Grass doesn’t try to grow; it just grows. Birds don’t try to fly; they just fly. Flowers don’t try to blossom; they just blossom. We are part of nature’s infinite intelligence, and when we let go of struggling and pushing, we will naturally experience the fulfillment of our dreams and purpose.
