Searching for Happiness.

Quote.

When your mind and heart are truly open abundance will flow to you effortlessly and easily.

Question:

Hi Deepak, You suggest to stop searching for happiness from outside things. We should explore our own reservoir of joy and happiness. But this is quite confusing to me, I am happy when I get a sweet surprise or a gift or some result as I expected or some lovable people in my life. How to search for Happiness in one’s own Self? I get satisfied and happy when I accomplish something in my life or something gets accomplished for me by external forces. How to find a fruit when there is no tree? I am confused 🙁 Please enlighten me.

Response:

When you realize your true self, you discover that your essential nature is happiness. It’s not that your mind is filled with happy thoughts—you are the source itself of all happiness.  Your core reality is sat-chit-ananda, absolute bliss consciousness. You don’t need to search for inner happiness, it is already there within the silence of your Being. You only need to stop searching and simply be.

External happiness is fine when it is there, but since it is transitory, you are making your happiness and well-being dependent upon forces you have no control over, and that isn’t a worthwhile kind of happiness at all. Through practices of self-awareness, you will establish an unshakable baseline of happiness through all of life’s ups and downs.

Love,

Deepak
