Quiet Mind.

Quote.

When your mind and heart are truly open abundance will flow to you effortlessly and easily.

Question:

Dear Deepak Whenever I try to meditate by myself without any guidance I am invaded by images, ideas, concerns. How can I quiet my mind? Is it true that one can empty the mind?

Response:
The mantra one is given in meditation instruction is the vehicle for the mind to go beyond thoughts, ideas and images. One is also taught how to deal with thoughts and feelings that arise during meditation. Do not try to push out thoughts or resist them to attain quietness. Instead, simply return to the mantra and allow the natural tendency of the mind to transcend thoughts to bring the mind to stillness.

Quieting the mind and emptying the mind mean that we experience subtler and subtler aspects of the thoughts arising in our mind until we experience the finest or vaguest form of the thought. Then when that subtlest thought fades away, the mind is without thought, but fully awake in itself. That is the quiet mind, the empty mind which is your true self, your core consciousness.

Love,
Deepak

You can use anything as a meditation mantra, it doesn`t have to be difficult or complicated, like the breath, focus on your breathing, your breathing becomes the mantra, meditation isn`t about clearing the mind, it`s about focusing the mind. A friend recently taught me this most simple mantra, just keep repeat in your mind ``My name is Brian my name is Brian my name is brian``, and on and on until it just fades out quite naturally. The body and ego don`t like you to meditate so you will suddenly get an almost irresistable itch, resist it, or a small pain somewhere, ignore it. Body and ego like to be centre of attention, put them in their proper place, who is boss after all? (PS: Use your own name if you prefer ;) ) Best wishes..

I have been meditating for some time and recently I have been experiencing tiredness during and after the meditation. It feels like my body or my mind or both is in such a relaxed state, which it usually is in when I sleep. I get so tired that I end up having to push myself through a 20-30 minute meditation and then fall asleep. I feel like I need to get through it and go deeper. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Hi Only when a person dies the mind become quiet. Do not believe about "thoughtless" experience. What you / we imagine does not exit at all.... End all your questions than find answers to your questions.... Stop all your efforts... Nothing to search... no goal to achieve....
