Is following our Dharma a form of Ego?.

Quote.

When your mind and heart are truly open abundance will flow to you effortlessly and easily.

Question:

“I have been listening to Synchrodestiny.

In it, you talk about slaying the dragon of Ego, but you also talk about finding the one thing that you can uniquely contribute to the world, the thing you were put here to do, your dharma.

But isn’t the belief in one’s specialness itself a form of Ego?

I have removed my Facebook page at this time because it is so ego-driven.

It is so easy to fall into the habit of trying to be smart and clever all the time.

However, I miss the relationships from social media.

If one isn’t talking about one’s thoughts and feelings, it’s nearly impossible to have relationships.

Yet, most of one’s thoughts and feelings are controlled by Ego.

As an author, I should work on continually building a platform and personal brand.

I’m not currently writing or promoting anything, so it’s okay to take a break.

But all of that again is self-focused and self-driven.

It’s Ego.

So how does one walk this minefield of being special but not special at the same time?”

Response:

Your uniqueness or specialness comes from following your dharma.

It has nothing to do with the ego.

When you are following your dharma your thoughts, feelings, and actions are directed from your unlimited self.

When you are guided by your separate self, your thoughts and feelings are directed toward aggrandizing or defending your ego.

With a dharmic approach, your specialness is a characterization of the unique contribution your life offers to others.

With the ego approach, specialness is a feeling the ego seeks in order to feel bigger and better.

But don’t think that your dharma prohibits you from having a rich and full social life, or that it means you can’t build a viable business and still be spiritual.

It’s a matter of where your emphasis and priorities lie.

Love,

Deepak
