Different Beliefs.

Quote.

When your mind and heart are truly open abundance will flow to you effortlessly and easily.

Question:

Dear Deepak Chopra,
I don't even know if you're going to read this, but I want to start by thanking you from the bottom of my heart for making a huge difference in my life. Your wise words and wonderful books have truly made me a better, happier person, and have allowed me to view my life from a completely different perspective. However, I'm really confused right now and I need your help. You see, my long-distance boyfriend and I are so deeply in love. He brings so much joy into my life and is the person I trust and lean on the most. But the thing is, I'm a deeply spiritual and a practicing religious person, whereas he is an agnostic of an originally different faith. We are also of quite different cultures, and I'm not sure how that will unfold in the future. He proposed to me, and I told him I need to think about it. My beliefs don't allow me to marry someone of such a background, and if I did, then I'd be going against a part of me. There's also the thought of what our children are going to be. I'd want them to practice my faith whereas I'm not sure he would be too happy or understanding about that. He said he would learn and read about my faith, but it doesn't really make sense to him and he doesn't want his life to be confined to a certain religion's doctrines. I can't imagine my life without him, Deepak, and I feel it would be a mistake to walk out on a love like that. Yet is going against my beliefs an even bigger mistake?

Response:

Is the love you have for each other deeper and bigger than your religious ideas? Not just now, but throughout your life. If it is, then you will have a solid basis to build a life together that can find a spirituality between you which transcends external religious practices and beliefs.

Love,
Deepak
