Being in the Present.

Quote.

When your mind and heart are truly open abundance will flow to you effortlessly and easily.

Question:

I know the present moment is the best place for us to live in blissful happiness. I strive to learn as much as possible and meditate daily. However I struggle to develop a comfortable “balance” between “present moment” and “planning” future events. Furthermore, I practice “detachment” from the outcome while remaining cautious not to lose focus on what I want. While practicing present moment awareness and detachment it seems daily tasks (at work and home) have become inefficient (at best) and not managed the same as the conditioned way. I accept change and am doing well, thanks! However simple tasks, such as preparing a nice meal requires a sequence of future-driven procedures and strategic planning of events that keep us from being totally in the present moment. Otherwise, meal-takers will be eating cold, poorly prepared food and unhappy. Please expound on how to manifest balance in achieving goals while staying present.

Response:

Living in the present moment is not about being cautious to maintain or hold onto your focus of attention. That vigilance requires your limited mind, and that automatically takes you out of the moment. Living in the now means your presence of awareness is open and easy. Your life flows spontaneously, naturally, and without strain. The reason your daily tasks are becoming inefficient is because part of your mind is trying to stay present, and the other part is trying to do the task at hand. If you simply do the activity with full awareness and presence, then you will find that you are naturally living in the present moment, without attachment to the past or future.

Deepak
