  • Can one be addicted to food... certain types of food? I`ve heard sugar is more addictive than cocaine. Is that true?

  • Modern society is designed in such a way that it will offer you something to fill that eternal space within. It perpetuates itself and capitalizes on your need; that insatiable desire for that indescribable, that unattainable certain something. Yet what that hole needs to be filled with is simply opening up to the divine. We seek to fill the gap between our higher self and lower self with these empty things, yet find they just don`t cut it. We chase the dragons tail but never catch it.

  • Great inspiration! Get rid of harmful dependencies is a beautiful thing. Gives a sense of achievement and self-confidence. I managed to get rid of all of my harmful addictions expect for one. The last one is coffee. At first I thought the cigarette is the worst, but now I think that coffee is that. I want to learn everything and have a very suspicious nature. Whenever I am reading a book and feeling myself tired I drink another coffee and continue reading. It is not accidental, that I cannot put down a book. I want to end up with them. Now I am reading the book of secrets ... I do not know how I will get rid of this addiction. Over time, it can cause even heart attack. I have already tried to drink tea instead of coffee more than once. It didn`t work. I really like the taste and smell of coffee as well. I need to replace this habit with something or I will be in trouble in the future... This was the main reason why I started to meditate.

  • Managing your time at the best means to learn how to listen to you own rhythm. You have to slow down your pace and start to concentrate on what is the 'flow' you like the most. This means that you have to understand exactly what is the speed of your thoughts, the speed of your understanding, the speed of your body in any circumstance. To do so, you should start to appreciate the silence and the nearness of your dears, if any. But don't be afraid if you are alone: there is nothing to be ashamed of. This society has always taught you that you have to be surrounded by music and people. You don't have to spend your time alone with your thoughts, the society says. And why, the society asks you to always have someone with you or something to buy? The answer is that if you stay alone with your thoughts, if you discover who you really are and - as a consequence - what are the things that are REALLY important for you, then you are a danger because you become an independent thinker and the independent thinking may spread its influence apart. Therefore, a good amount of people could start to realize that they don't really need the products they have been told the need for years; they don't need to do a work they are not very interested in; they don't need to buy music they don really like just because it's the mainstream; and so on. This process of understanding your own rhythm and your own personality, of course, is the most exciting adventure you can have. The self-awareness will bring you to happiness and success, but you have to dare being who you really are, not the clone that the World wants you to be. START THE PROCESS TOWARDS THE TRUE YOURSELF BY TODAY! START IT NOW!

  • The society wants you to behave by following some fixed schemes, according which - basically - you should imitate the way of talking, moving and thinking of mass - media. You are supposed to be a real version of the advertisements they put on your TV programs, on your radio stations, on your newspapers. That is their model, that is how they want you to be, no matter who you really are: what they are interested in is that you live, work, spend your money and die. They decide what is worthwhile for you: for instance, a diamond - in itself - hasn't got any more value than a piece of coal. It is this society that decides what counts and what doesn't. You have been taught since you are born that if you have no money you are a loser, but they haven't taught you that you have to use the money as a mean to be happy. I know a number of wealthy and depressed people. I have known important persons committing suicide for their money did not help them to get out their inner difficult moments. Don't get me wrong: money are useful and all, but it is YOU the one who have to own them, not them that should own you. Without the mass-media you learn to discover a part of you they want you not to explore: the part that doesn't need noise to be happy, the part that wants to know better about the world, about the cultures, about the different existing point of views, ABOUT THE REAL YOURSELF!

  • Have you seen the movie the Rabbit Hole? The part I like the best, is when some one says that their son died because God needed another Angel, and Nicole Kidman becomes angry, and says that if God needed another Angel, God would just create one, why would God allow a small boy to die just to make him an Angel?

  • Wow, you are now officially part of the problem. Part of the heinous destructive Prohibition Cartel that profits off of peoples problems and addictions. If you were truly a healer and interested in bettering humanity you would offer this program and products for free. However, this is just another example of profiting from human suffering. So sad, I used to like you but now you are part of the problem, manufacturing addictions and treatments to feed the heinous War on Drugs and other diabolical concoctions that feed off humanity. Shame.

  • Space is a calculation done by consciousness in order to interpret the data that comes into it. It is a mathematical function defined by the larger consciousness system (LCS). Scientists are expecting to see the edge of the Universe and they will never find it because is all virtual and it generates itself as long as you stare at it. It`s like AutoCAD model space. It`s infinite and a virtual generated space. As crazy as that sounds the Space is the same and consciousness is the computer.

I would encourage all who struggle with addictions to find a support group that will encourage you to move toward a Creative and more mindful relation to yourself and others. Some suggested groups: AA, NA, Centering Prayer, Meditation, Faith based organizations that promote peaceful coexistence and private non-profit organizations. #PBTGA

  • I do agree with Dr. Deepak re those "3 reasons." HOWEVER there is a "4th reason." --being simply & primatively HOOKED on the substance. In Severe cases this Must often be dealt with FIRST--even before Higher Consciousness is addressed. As is said, sometimes a cigar is just a cigar (poss 20% of pts.?). It certainly does not hurt--and it will help IF NOT used as a Distraction and Avoidance by pts.--> to learn about and to utilize their Inner Core. ~ Dr. Cliff, author, "The Still Soft Voice"

Let the spirit come forth and reach out to meet these people in the light, not behind bars, not in ghettos, not in offices, not merely in your mind. Share your peace, your joy, your comfort with them, utilize influence to bring them together for great good.

Don't be trippin' on the meek, keep better care of them yourself first, do what you can as soon as you can to make their lives better, make their life worth it, don't punish them and deprive them of affection and a better way of life.

  • Revere the conscious presence among us that truly cares for them as they are and allow them to be dignified in their own administration of divine providence. If you are able to truly help somebody, you must share your life with them, to allow them to share that life with others, and that is the instrumentality of love. You must not label these people, that is forsaking them.

  • Thanks Deepak for your response and its so timely! A sense of hopelessness often drives us to "settle" for pleasure that momentarily sedates the pain of existence. Without realizing its there, it slowly constricts life out of us... gazing into those eyes, pain and despair can be seen. You are so right Deepak, behind it all we`re seeking exaltation of spirit.. Meditation, connecting with the light within, so warms my soul ... a new Love, a new addiction, I can`t seem to settle for any less :)

  • FROM DEEPAK: All addiction begins with the experience of pleasure however, all pleasure ultimately exhausts itself. Addicts are ultimately seeking something beyond pleasure which is exaltation of spirit. In a sense all addictive behavior is a search for spiritual ecstasy. Memories so pleasurable can not be erased but can be overshadowed by creating new experiences that give us a higher sense of fulfillment and joy.

  • It is ironic that addicts are attempting to fill a void which is really our true nature. It is by achieving acknowledgement that emptiness is our true nature that we will realize that we don`t need to fill the void, with attachments and pleasure, which is temporary, we can achieve a state of peace and joy in the security that emptiness is really attaining fullness. One must realize that when passing through the rabbit hole that we are the hole.

  • I think Deepak Chopra`s talk on addiction is fantastically insightful and much needed in today`s world. People are finally looking into the spiritual reasons behind addiction instead of simply judging and stigmatising a so-called `addict`. I believe that almost everyone has an addiction in some shape or form, but some addictions are far more harmful and soul-destroying than others. Addiction is an affliction that can happen to anyone at any time and spiritual guidance is crucial to overcoming it.

  • Jesus Christ is the only way to the Father in Heaven. He took me out of my past drug addictions and depressions. His blood was shed to cleanse us from our sins and pains. He rose again to give us a new life. God loved the whole world that He gave His Son Jesus Christ that whoever believes in Him shall have eternal life and not perish. Repent of your sins and be saved

  • Jeusus Christ took me out of all my drug addictions. When I was addicted, I found satisfaction in my addictions all that Deepak Chopra tells us here, but I found my permanent satisfaction in Jesus Christ. His Holy Spirit filled me with the love eternal. He broke all my chains. I used to believe in Hindu gods, etc, who never healed me or loved me, but now I know the true and living God. I wanted to get high with my drugs and ultimately end my life, but God`s love is higher than all. Go to Jesus.

  • Really informative video thanks. Too many of us these days look for things outside of themselves to replace what they believe is missing within. We have to stop this addiction to modern day living and turn our eyes around and look back at what we truly are and get away from this addition culture.

  • In part yes, and because they are using a substance to get to a state the body cannot reach again. So the craving is not actually about the substance itself, but the feeling it provides.
