Holy Facts - Extreme Devotion 2

Category:  Holy Facts

What's the most extreme thing you've done for your faith? Gotham continues a popular theme from last season's HOLY FACTS to discuss more examples of extreme devotion from the around the world. If the crucifixion rituals don't completely shock you, then just wait for the baby throwing. There's no limit to what people will do to show their devotion.

  • Maybe religion got too extreme. Maybe we miss the point. Don't toss your kids, fear of falling is one of the first human fears. Terrifying babies is not cool. Neither is masochism. Common sense humans.

  • Extreme devotion... >.< Do they not realize their devotion is a mere crutch for their lack of personal responsibility? Classic case of when keeping it real goes wrong. If your devotion takes you to any sort of extreme and puts you and others in danger, ask yourself, what exactly are you devoted too?

  • Are all these people shown from the same planet and if so which one, so I may avoid the contamination.....

  • I think these people`s devotion is commendable, but Jesus was supposed to have died (I don`t know he did) on the cross so nobody else has to, isn`t that somehow blasphemous?. I`m not Christian by the way.

  • "As if he [God] didn`t have enough to worry about." No kidding. Although I`m Buddhist, I honestly think that the state of our planet is more than enough motivation for the human race to stop multiplying and focus on maintaining our home. Plus, we have to remember that we share this planet with other creatures. At the rate we`re going, there won`t be anything for us to leave the future generations.

  • i like the addition of world problems after the big family. some ppl are so disconnected to the reality and time of their surroundings! following the book in a fundamentalist way is not the way, i believe, faith was intended. we have a brain and a heart to consult (whether believer or non-believer) and that ought to be good to guide us since in my view G-d dwells there. trusting ones feelings is best. i don`t understand ppl pretending to live a fairy tale or overdoing it w their faith tradition

  • Many ancient religions sacrificed their own children in the name of the gods.

  • What`s the most extreme thing you`ve done for your faith? Given up sex. Now, I am horny and do not know if God is even listening to me.

  • I`d like to think that at least some of these people are driven not by the desire to show off their devotion, but by the intensity of real devotion. I myself would rather see them pour it into doing something constructive instead. Maybe they just haven`t thought of that yet :)
