Perfectly Imperfect Parents - How to Be Present As a Parent
So many parents in today's world feel stressed and overworked. What does it mean to "be present" as a parent, and how can often-stressed moms and dads go about achieving this balance?

It doesn't seem like this would be a particularly gendered issue. What do
the dads out there have to say? Do you struggle with balance?

Do men go through this too? I've heard many women talk about this topic,
but no men.

I find it interesting that `balance` is always achieved by the mothers and it usually involves giving up some aspect of your life.

I've watched a program about Danish community housing where parents
described what a huge relief it was to share chores with everyone else, how
much free time they all had for being with themselves and each other, for
playing, etc. People around the world have made many attempts to gather in
communities. Upside: possibility for more joy, friendship and ease.
Downside (or upside too?): Personal views on parenting and everything else
may differ, sense of ownership of one's children is challenged.

Feeling compassion for all stressed out parents out there. Have been one
myself when the kids were small. It might have helped to know that it won't
last forever and I can surrender to being present with them and enjoy while
the experience fills my life. Before having the first child, most parents
are very focused on their own (professional) goals and the change can be
confusing. Children grow faster than we think and the day comes when we
have matured and it is time for the next phase of life.
