Soul Functioning

Category:  Ask Deepak

Question:

Hi Deepak: I just finished reading your book - The Book of Secrets. I loved it so much that I read it 3 times and made notes to use as daily reminders. How does our soul carry on and function after our physical body dies? Is consciousness an emergent property of brain processes or is it an inherent quality of the Universe? Thank you for sharing your amazing knowledge.

Response:

The physical body is a vehicle for our consciousness. Consciousness is the basis of physicality, not a by-product of it. A radio receives and processes nonlocal radio waves and that allows us to hear the music or voice, but the radio did not make the music, nor are the radio waves dependent upon the physical radio for their existence. In the same way, our nonlocal consciousness is projected through our body and senses, but our consciousness is not dependent upon the body for its existence.

Love,
Deepak

  • But this will always remain a matter of faith, which, according to my humble view is very personal. What we experience in this body in this lifespan is what we know and when we die there are two options: either we are able to proceed in the state we have arrived at at our death and just pulsh away the curtain to step into another cycle or we fall into deep sleep and let evolution develop itself further in our offspring. I`ve experienced that it is all good and the choice we make whether unconsciously or consciously is not that important. More important is what we have peace with at the end of our lifetime............

  • increased consciousness is life`s biggest challenge and the most rewarding experience of our existence - but it exacts a price, as joy and suffering cannot exist apart.

  • I have experienced the difference between the body and consciousness. I have noticed that sometimes I may have a pain in my body. But when I am really interested in something and my attention is fully focused on that other thing, I no longer notice my body. Does this make sense? I don't know any other way to explain it.

    Ruth Wilmore // 2013-10-17 23:12:55 // //
  • If consciousness does exist independent of the body, how do we explain that physical brain damage, depression, ageing or chemicals such as alcohol can fundamentally alter both the experience and expression of that consciousness? One can construct thought experiments in which such `damaged` minds go through the cycles. The inevitable conclusion, as far as I can see, is that our consciousness coalesces as a unique individual only in the context of our physical bodies. If there is a spark, or thread that continues, it leaves the biological component behind. This means our memories, thinking abilities, temperament, and any other faculty that can be demonstrably alerted by interfering with the pain of the body, dies with the body. I`d love to hear a hypothesis that challenges this view.

  • As your `spirit` slowly dissipates into the ether so does your self-awareness. Everything you were ceases to be. This is death. The molecules that are bound together, slowly drift apart.

  • Joy is not the opposite of suffering. Compassion is the opposite if suffering. How would we know of compassion if it were not for suffering. It stinks but there it is. But there is also a "joy" that extends beyond the opposites . It is the joy of the soul, perfect and without blemish . I know, because I experienced it briefly. The path exits. " souly" for that purpose. To find rest in that which does not move or change.

HUMBLE) If u seek the path of Humbliness, you`ll find your realization in the ! This is not easy to do,in the material world, but it`s always possible.and remember because of the different levels of understanding.they say in many books WEND U READY THE TEACHER WILL CAME.All it takes is an open heart!

  • That still doesn't answer the question of what our soul or spirit does with the memories of the life experienced in one body or how the body tunes the wave of consciousness at or before earth. Physical experience is recorded through the heart and when we leave this body what happens? Past life regression is an enigma I am earning about and would like Depak to address.

  • Can consciousness be detached from the body whilst still living? Can it function independently and return back, If so, that would substantiate the proof that it is consciousness that is activating the body and not the other way round. Dear Deepak I would appreciate your kind response on it.

  • The sheer number of conscious entities on our planet indicates there is some reason for its proliferation! If we accept it as an evolutionary accident, that doesn't absolve us from choice. It's here, we're here, and we do make choices, so will we take responsibility for those choices? Like De Niro in Taxi Driver said, 'you talkin to me, I don't see anybody else here'! Or do we? That's a choice too!

  • Good Karma, Bad Karma...???there is no punishment...for cosmic law allows whatever we create out of harmony with Divine Law, we have an equal opportunity to bring it back to balance. In other words...one of my past life karma..I died young in my 30's and blamed God for taking my loved ones away..in other words I hated what happened...at that time...and this next lifetime...I was born since a child to have a Divine Blessed Life.and LOVE God, having conversations with him since I was little..and fortunate to live " outside of the box" ~~~~NOW This is what I call..."underserved kindness of punishment by bad karma" NNOO NO, ~!!!! Divine LOVE and ORDER is kind, and mother nature in her own way also is very forgiving...inspite of how humanity tries to destroy her...The cosmic law is very forgiving and whatever is out of harmony has a pathway back to balance and all that is Good and Divine....

  • Hakim Hbardi~~why do they not transcend??? it is because they have no idea how to or have any kind of faith in divine to know the difference..unfortunately the earth was in quarantine for many centuries and divine connection was sabotaged ..for a period of time...and was allowed only two lower chakras ~~ON top of it all the two lower chakras was not held in divine love or honor except programmed with shame and whatever to dishonor oneself ) ....so connecting to divine was not with the masses of humanity......I was once told..I reincarnated many, many many times..and I did not wait in between each incarnation. However there is this younger generation of this time in human history...that has not reincarnated in the humanKARMAdrama but are Starseeds that do not carry as much karmic experiences as many of old souls. and they are born into our time with full seven chakras connected...(But then really there are more than 7...but 12 chakras..with countless meridians to connect directly to Divine heart and mind.measurable frequencies of thousands of hertz...)

Question2 : what exactly qualifies as bad karma...

  • For many reasons, I do not believe in death for capital punishment...and understand that many of what we experience in our present day has to do with the spirit world of unrest and many of those who have died ignorant of the darkness etc. Many health challenges also may be connected to our connections to many life times of our ancestors needing help , very much like Lucy.

  • Important Understandings On Reincarnation (cont.) 6. The world's population is increasing at such a rapid rate, indicating that the souls already here are taking rebirth and also that there are new ones coming down continuously from the soul world. 7. If one believed that one will receive the fruit of one's actions, if not in this birth, but in another one, a person would surely feel less inclined to perform negative actions. 8. Without reincarnation, it is impossible to explain how every soul has reached its present peaceless state. Thousands of sins have been performed by each soul in its past births under the influence of the five vices – lust, anger, greed, ego and attachment. Due to this, ‘sanskars’ of those vices have accumulated over the soul. The burden of these ‘sanskars’ weighs heavily on the soul and causes it unhappiness in the present. The present cycle of birth and rebirth is fast approaching its end. It is precisely at this time that the Supreme Soul can relieve us from this burden.

  • Important Understandings On Reincarnation (cont.) 5. Each time a soul leaves an old body and takes a new birth, it carries its ‘sanskars’ from the old birth into the new one. Other ‘sanskars’ that can be present in the new body (apart from the ones from the previous birth) are: · ‘sanskars’ from parents · ‘sanskars’ accumulated during the new birth e.g. from siblings (brothers or sisters) or from friends, also those picked up during education and more · ‘sanskars’ of will power (the ability to bring about changes in the self using will power) · original ‘sanskars’ of peace, love, purity, bliss, joy and power (the ones that were present in the soul when it first came down from the soul world into the physical world to play its part) Out of these five types of ‘sanskars’, in each soul, the ‘sanskars’ that are visible at different stages of life are varied e.g. in some soul, ‘sanskars’ may be completely different from the ones the parents possess, because the ‘sanskars’ from the previous birth are more visible; in another soul, ‘sanskars’ of will power may be intense, the soul may have brought about a lot of transformation in its personality since the time it was born; in a third soul ‘sanskars’ from parents and friends may be most visible; in another soul, practicing meditation, original ‘sanskars’ may be more visible, etc.

  • So if consciousness is not dependent on our body but our body is a vehicle for it when we die where do the collective consciousnesses go? Do they still exist? Do they still have energy?

  • coincidently I did establish a pillar of gold light in the middle of Sirius book store so I knew it was there...so I prompted Lucy to leave my body and go into the light...I felt her leave..and immediately my bronchitis disappeared...then JOYCE could see her leave...I was now free....and relieved of the anger and emotional congestion in my lungs...back to my own personality.

  • Important Understandings On Reincarnation 1. The soul has a separate identity from any of the bodies it adopts. 2. The human soul does not take a birth/body of any animal species, just as a lemon seed does not grow into a mango tree. The human soul always takes a human body e.g. if the soul of a cow was to take the birth of a human, wouldn’t it carry ‘sanskars’ of performing all actions like a cow into its human birth – how would it then function through the human body. 3. The various lives or births of a soul are like different episodes of a television serial, all different, yet connected with each other. 4. The cycle of action and reaction is never-ending. The soul must continue to play its entire role until all it has received the fruits for all its actions. This may require more than one body.

  • When I returned to Honolulu, whatever she was feeling..I was expressing her anger and wondered what happened to my own personality...I managed to visit a couple of clairvoyant friends at the (Metaphysical) Sirius Book Store.. Joyce was there, and she is very talented in seeing the spirit world..could see the aura...of "my guest" her name was LUCY...Lucy was still suffering, and was totally angry, her disease of bronchitis was also in my body...JOYCE looked at me and saw the anger of LUCY...so I told her.."this is all about LUCY, and I do not know what to do with her"

His wife died a year before my visit..it was interesting after 10 days sleeping in her bedroom , her spirit entered my body..I felt her pain, I felt her anger that she was not able to express during the many years of suffering with physical challenges. She went through a surgery and suffered with cancer...when she died...for her it was an ongoing pain...
