Self-Pity and Depression.

When your mind and heart are truly open abundance will flow to you effortlessly and easily.

Question:

I feel that I cannot stop feeling sorry for myself. I feel like nothing works for me and that everyone is doing  better than me. Everyone travels and accomplishes things and I do not. I feel very tired because in 28 years I’ve only had 45 days of vacation. I have had depression for a long time and I’m take medication for this, but I can’t feel hopeful and optimistic. What can I do to feel better?

Response:

Part of the reason you feel sorry for yourself is because you are comparing your life to others. Vacations and career accomplishments are external circumstances, they are not who you are and are not how you should value yourself. When you start to feel sorry for yourself, look in the mirror and tell yourself that you are your soul, not your body or your job or the relationship you are in. Your essence is divine and complete in itself, and that means that no one is better than you or more important than you and no one is less than you or beneath you. 

You have everything in your life right now to move forward into a happier state of being, you only need to step out of your old conditioned way of seeing yourself and embrace the strength and wisdom of your true self.

You say that you have been on antidepressants for a long time and yet you don’t feel better. Talk to your doctor and see if there are alternative treatments that he or she can recommend trying.

    The accomplisments are probably "after-benefits".... the cherry on the cake, that warms your heart....Some experts as Deepak say people wait for outer circumstances or oter world the be happy or to get some benefits....They say also advice to give yourself some gift....or benefit, before you accoplish the great stuff....so it means you become happy now, as your dream is already happening now.....Its about causing the effect first, before it happens.. So it means you dont think and act from the point of struggle or lack, but from the point of happiness, inner peace..But it takes practice...I think Deepak knows it also well from his experiences, but we ordinary humans often forget it, because we live in the past and struggle. As usually the experts or researchers also say its ego way of thinking...I like Deepak´s article about ego self and true self...It changes our point of view.
