Illness and Meditation.

Quote.

When your mind and heart are truly open abundance will flow to you effortlessly and easily.

Question:

After reading many of your books, I have begun the practice of meditation.  One thing I am hoping to achieve through this meditation is a healthier mind and, similarly, a healthier body.  I am struggling now with getting sick almost every month.  It seems that I get a cold or sinus trouble around the time of my monthly cycle and this also seems to be the time when I find it hardest to meditate.  My mind seems to wander and I get very angry and agitated while meditating.  Then I am sick for about a week and by the time I am well again, it starts all over.  Is there anything you can suggest as far as meditation or ayurvedic medicine?  Also, should I continue to meditate even when I feel my body becoming tense or agitated?

Response:

You can meditate effectively even when you are ill or when your mind is agitated and angry. Just treat the agitation and anger like any other thought in your mind while meditating and gently return to the mantra or your attention to your breath when you become aware that you are away from the meditation practice. Meditating when you are sick will help you recover more quickly.

The cycle of getting sick every month is another matter. Meditation supports a balanced physiology and a stronger immune system, but it shouldn’t be thought of as a substitute for targeted health care. If you haven’t been able to get past this recurring infection for many months on your own, then it makes sense to find a local health professional you trust to help you with it.

Love,

Deepak

Hi, What I found to be helpful is to continue meditating each day, and especially trying find that alone or almost alone time where I can meditate with little or nor distractions. It can be impossible at time to find those times of little or no distractions, and we therefore need to be able to continue meditating as best we can no matter what the situation or circumstances. The better times I have found are first thing in the morning, and just before going to bed. Sometimes the kids, the snoring partner, or illness can be distraction. The most evident distractor however is our perceptions and interpretations that hold u back I feel it is best to continue meditation in the midst of whatever you are going through. And by the way, to me meditation is not just a day and night event, but instead a moment my moment effort and intention. And the effort needs to continue even if it does not feel good. Hi, I feel that we all need to learn to heal ourselves body, mind and soul, and the better I have found to do this is to consistently practice bringing ourselves back to Spacious Awareness by using tools we have available. Mediation can be one tool. And it is important to remember that it is just that...A tool... I also believe that mediation should be a moment my moment practice, and when we lose it, gently bring yourself back to the spark you know is within you. That spark grows and those acts of synchronicity/miracles grow as well, which in turn motives us to continue on. It’s also important to realize that the inner healing is more important than trying to fix and issue. We need to rely on our inner voices first and foremost and then on the practical applications that help us heal. Proper nutrition is important as well as mediation. And remember also that our unconscious minds have a tendency to try to confuse us and tell us we are not changing or growing. That's where anothers viewpoint may be needed. I pray your issues are resolved soon. Peace, Love and Freedom, Ronnie Figueroa. http://ronholisticcounselor.com
