Desires and Free Will.
When your mind and heart are truly open abundance will flow to you effortlessly and easily.
Question:
Hello Deepak, Where do our desires come from, and do we get to choose what our likes and dislikes are? It seems to me that our free will lies in our ability to make choices, and yet our choices are based on our likes and dislikes. If we don’t get to choose our likes and dislikes, our dreams and desires, then are we really making a choice or just following our desires? Is that free will? I want to believe in free will so badly but am having a hard time with this. Thank you so much, I really appreciate you.

Most of the thoughts and desires we have during the day come from a superficial and active level of the mind, where old patterns, past conditioning and habits get stimulated into unconscious responses or new desires. For intention to be strong and effective, it must come from your silent source of awakened consciousness. The unconscious reactive mind has very little strength or power.
Regarding the overall philosophical question of free will – I don’t think the either-or dichotomy of free will or determinism accurately captures the essence of the experience of the wholeness of reality. I believe it comes down to what is our true nature as pure consciousness. And pure consciousness is unlimited creativity, bliss, intelligence and truth.
