The Neuroscience of Leadership
Category: Spirituality , Science
We have a pretty good idea how neural networks are laid down. Deepak believes that we can hardwire the brain specifically to develop better leadership abilities.Top comments

Consciousness and its forms its all the it exist in the universe. It is the observer, the process of observation and the observer.

neuroscientists can nowadays watch neurons fire. They can even tell us that they fire in a mirroring way. What does this say about (their) consciousness?

Isn`t awareness a form of consciousness that we are born with? Consciousness develops or wanes depending on our ability to perceive knowledge. So, our consciousness can grow depending on knowledge, or our consciousness can stagnate if we live in primarily object referral and our consciousness grows when we live in self-referral. Peace from Deborah Shemesh (a Chopra University Primordial Sound Teacher whose consciousness continues to grow as I continue to learn). THX DC

The Major Problem With Science
Category: Spirituality , Science
The major problem with science is that it believes in an objective reality independent of an observer. The objective world does not exist. All perceptual objects are organism and species specific. The world corresponds to the nervous system of the observer and scientific facts are modes of human observation.Top comments

That`s a clear and precise statement. But on the other hand who are we to make such perceived clear and precise statements? Do we really know or is God laughing at us? Buddha would say: "Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it." But: Life will happen and continue evolving regardless good or bad/wright or wrong. Things may seem bad, they may seem good. Only time can tell. What if we can alter our perception in the moment toward believing that there is a perfect reason for the way in which the universe is unfolding the way it is? In a nutshell, everything that seems on the surface to be bad may be good in disguise. And everything that seems good on the surface may not always be so. What would life be like without our ad hoc judgements and negative narratives? We may not be conscious that we are looking at everything from a narrow viewpoint in doing so, but from the higher perspective what appears tragic can be the most appropriate way forward. Do you also have examples from your life of events that seemed good or bad to begin with, and in hindsight you changed your perception? DKM

I totally agree ! In french we say : à trop regarder l`arbre , on ne voit plus la forêt! Translation : if you look the tree.. you wont be able to see the forest behind ( something like that ) Science is a baby. Too bad english is not my first language..I would explain more my sights :)

Scientific Understanding of Consciousness
Category: Consciousness , Spirituality , Science
There is a reason why the scientific understanding of the brain will never solve of the issue of consciousness. The limitation is not technical, but it is in principal . We see neural networks of the brain by using medical imaging, but consciousness perceives that network and consciousness is not visible. A physical system will never explain the sense of Self, an imagined future or a remembered past, an initiation of an action or free will. As we understand this, we should ask ourselves , what is the most primal experience of our lives. It is our subjective experience of our reality and that is experienced in our consciousness.

I appreciate that you, as a man of science, clearly recognize what many computer scientists do not. Consciousness is more than the brain. Non-material reality is real. Many computer scientists think that a computer will be created that will actually be ~conscious~ and self aware. Clearly, this can never happen for a set of chips, wires and plastic.

This is the most naive, not-well-thought-out philosophical argument I`ve heard in a while.
