Meditation Schedule

Category:  Ask Deepak

Question:

I read lot about meditation but I am in a profession wherein I need to entertain people in an atmosphere of drinks and smoking, and late nights etc. Is there a way I can still meditate? If so how? .. Also is it necessary to get up early and meditate please suggest an easy way to meditate.

Response:

If you schedule requires you to work late at night, you don’t need to wake up early to meditate. Just meditate when you get up. The smoking and drinking may not be the most healthy environment to work in, but you can still meditate and make valuable spiritual progress. An easy way to meditate is to sit comfortably with eyes closed and notice your breath—in and out—when your mind wanders off on some other thought, bring it gently back to your easy rhythmic breathing. If you practice this for 20 minutes twice each day, you will start to notice more clarity, peace and energy in your life.

Love,
Deepak

  • Good tips. Simple, straightforward and allows me not to feel guilty for not getting up at 5am. Thanks!

  • Yes please. Take care of yourself Mr. Chopra. My desktop picture of the buddha says: You yourself as much as anyone in the universe, deserve your love and affection. Buddha... Trust God and take a break. Lol

  • The smoking ban (inside any shared spaces) was one of the best things that happened here (on the edge of the Old World) ... Short of that, some Tantra based practices will be helpful, as both passively inhaling cigarette smoke and alcohol fumes can be made into meditations. Though as this is the path of mindlessness (as opposed to mindfulness) it will require a few tweaks in attitude ...

  • 1) You attract the things and circumstances into your life on which you give your attention, energy and focus, whether these things are positive or negative. 2)You simply attract them in your life by thinking most of the time about them. 3) There are some words that make a huge impact on your mind, one of these words is “Don’t”. When someone tell you, “Don’t think about the Statue of Liberty in New York.” You will surely visualize the picture of the Statue of Liberty in your mind. Whenever your mind hear the word “Don’t” it starts acting on that thing for example “Don’t think about the airplane”. 4)You should almost never use the words like “Don’t” if you want to make the Law of Attraction work in your favor. Because when you say or think about the things that you don’t want, the Law of Attraction hears what you don’t want and start acting on those things. 5)It just gives you more of what you think.
